Frederick “Fred” T. Harrington, age 67 of Ludington passed away on August 6, 2015 at his home. Fred was born on April 4, 1948 in Detroit, son of the late Frederick and Elsie (Konczal) Harrington, Sr. He attended St. Simon’s Elementary and High School graduating in 1966. In 1971 Fred graduated from Ferris State University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. On February 16, 1974 Fred married his high school sweetheart Linda A. Piotwoski at St. Stanislaus in Ludington. Fred was the owner and CEO of Harrington Tool Co for 40 years until his retirement on December 31, 2013. Fred was a member of St. Simons Church, Knights of Columbus and a former member of Lincoln Hills. Fred will be remembered by family and friends as a quiet but truly compassionate man. He loved his friends and family unconditionally and would be the first to help out without being asked. However, the trait that will keep everyone smiling forever is Fred’s unique sense of humor. Fred enjoyed spending his time golfing, watching John Wayne or military movies, planning and executing construction projects, listening to music…loudly… watching the sunset over Lake Michigan while having a beer and most of all spending time with friends and family. He always looked forward to the family’s annual Fourth of July gathering. A tradition that celebrated its 29th year in 2015. Fred was a contributing member of the community as owner and CEO of Harrington Tool Company. What many do not know is Fred was a selfless giver. He found incredible happiness in assisting and/or helping out others. All was done anonymously because he preferred to not be recognized. His random acts of kindness remain countless. The void of Fred’s physical presence will be a difficult adjustment. However, his spiritual presence will provide everlasting love and comfort. Too all, in Fred’s words, “Huerr, Huerr!” Fred is survived by his wife, Linda A. Harrington of Ludington; daughters, Stephanie (Jason) Shellhaas of Fenton and Kristin (Matthew) Boegner of Baraboo, WI; son, Kevin Harrington of Holland; granddaughter and Grandpa’s Sweetsee Pie, Anastasia Boegner of Baraboo, WI; sisters, Leslie Cooper and Elaine Cater and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. The Mass of Resurrection for Frederick “Fred” T. Harrington will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday August 12, 2015 at St. Simon Catholic Church in Ludington with Father Wayne Wheeler as Celebrant. The family will receive guests for visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of services. Memorial contributions in Fred’s name may be directed to the Ludington Area Catholic School Education Fund or the Harrington Family’s charity of choice.
