William “Ed” Edwin Cory age 76 of Ludington passed away on May 20, 2015 at Spectrum health Ludington Hospital. Ed was born December 17, 1938 in Rensselear, Indiana son of the late William Vasco and Dorothy Marie (Lane) Cory. He attended White Cloud High School and graduated in 1957. On February 21, 1992 Ed married Marlene K. Richmond in White Cloud. Ed retired from the United States Coast Guard as a Chief Petty Officer E7. After retiring from the Coast Guard Ed worked for a short time in the maintenance department of both Michigan Bell Telephone Company and then at Guardsman Products in Fremont for six years and retired from there in 2001. Ed was a member of Living Word Church. He was a volunteer for the Sheriff Posse in White Cloud, American Red Cross, NCCS in Fremont, delivering food baskets around the holidays, and moved some of the recycling trailers for White Cloud Recycling. Ed is survived by his wife, Marlene of Ludington; children, William E. (Tammy) Cory III of New Stanton, PA, Christopher C. (Vicky) Cory of Mansfield, AR and Rebecca Lynn (Tim) Allen of Santa Rose, CA; step children, David B. (Mildred) Richmond of Coconut Creek, FL, Brenda M. Richmond of Ludington and Susan (Steven) Martineau of Ludington; 5 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 6 step grandchildren; 12 step great grandchildren; first wife Glenda (Jack) Sharpe of White Cloud and multiple nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Bud Cory and sister June. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday May 30, 2015 at Oak Grove Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Ford officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post 76. The family will receive guests for visitation from 11:00 AM until the time of services.
