Rose Sibley

Rose Sibley, age 94 of Ludington, passed away Sunday March 15th at Oakview Medical Care Facility in Ludington. Rose was born August 21, 1920 to Joseph and Vilma (Langer) Balogh in Schachendorf, Austria. Rose married William Roger Sibley in Muskegon in1942. They celebrated 53 years of marriage before his death in 1995. Rose and Roger owned and operated a small neighborhood grocery store in Muskegon for many years. In 1959 they purchased the Rendezvous Tavern in Walhalla which they operated for 27 years. After retirement they enjoyed many winters in Florida. After Roger’s death in l995, Rose moved to Sherman Oaks Apartments where she enjoyed card games and bingo. She was an avid Setback, Euchre and Pinochle player. You didn’t dare to make a mistake or you heard about it. Rose is survived by her son, Jim (Bea) Sibley; her daughter, Carol (Andy) Weaver; grandchildren, Suzanne (John) Jurkowski, Tammy (Wiley) Boulding, Jim (Jodi) Sibley, Mary (Joe) Hartwig; four great-grandchildren, Ceara Sibley, Blaise Boulding, Elyana Jurkowski, Piper Hartwig; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Roger; a daughter, Eva Waters; and her brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Loraine Balogh. Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday May 16, 2015 at Saint Simon Catholic Church of Ludington with Father Wayne Wheeler, celebrant.
