Phillip Peralta, Age 77 of Manistee died Friday, September 18, 2015 at Spectrum Health -Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids after an extended battle with cancer. He was born on June 9, 1938 in Detroit, MI the son of the late Joseph & Mary (Manzo) Peralta. He was a graduate of Southfield High School Class of 1957, and was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard. On May 10, 1986 he married Beverly Ann (Madeley) Swanson at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Manistee. A self-employed commercial landlord, Phil took pride in being able to tackle any project on his properties, whether it was carpentry, plumbing, electrical, etc. Musically inclined, he played numerous musical instruments and at one time owned and operated a music store in Farmington Hills. He also loved tinkering with old cars, tractors, & boats. He also was a collector of Lionel Trains and a fan of the Detroit Tigers. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Manistee, the American Legion, and the Filer Township DDA. Phil was a devoted loving husband to his wife Bev, a caring father & step-father to; Courtney (Kelly) Peralta-O’Neal, Michelle Swanson, Amy (Tom) Kirkconnel, and Andrew Swanson. Also surviving are his grandchildren; Jordan Gelders, Lauren & Will Kirkconnell, Rylee Swanson, and Brock & Madeline O’Neal, his nephews; John (Cheri) DiGiovanni and Joe (Linda) DiGiovanni, niece; Josie (Bob) Fuelling, brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law; Bruce (Kathy) Madeley and Judi (David) Nies, and his extended family; Naomi (Mike) Zaleski, Tom (Pat) Swanson, Ray (Dot) Swanson, Nora (George) Hunt, Joyce (Ed) Thompson, and Floyd Swanson. He was also preceded in death by 2 sisters and one brother-in-law; Mary Joyce Peralta and Josephine & Andrew DiGiovanni. Funeral Services for Phillip Peralta will be held Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Manistee with Pastor John Hopper officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Oak Grove Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Manistee Friday evening from 6-8 PM and again at the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of service.
