G. Mark Ludington formerly of Owosso died Thursday, June 18rd at age 73. Mark was the retired Circulation Manager of the Owosso Argus Press. He and his wife, Yvette, found their dream home overlooking the Ludington lighthouse in the early 90s and moved from Owosso to that location a few years later. Mark was born and raised in Flint Michigan where he graduated from Flint Central in 1960 and attended Mott Community College. For a number of years, he actively supported the Owosso Jaycees and Muscular Dystrophy charity events. He maintained a lifelong interest in small business starting with a sizeable Flint Journal paper route that was eventually passed on to his brothers and shared for over 20 years. He was the owner and operator of the Printed Word Bookstore in Owosso and later Quick Check convenience store of Owosso. Mark found contentment with Yvette in Ludington where he developed woodworking skills in the course of renovating their Lakeshore Drive home. He enjoyed cooking and gardening, but, most of all watching the seasons change and the sun set across Lake Michigan. Mark was predeceased by his parents Carl A. and Mary E. Ludington and much beloved brother Matthew Ludington. Mark is survived by his wife Yvette, children Stacey (Dane Meyer) Ludington of Fredericksburg VA, Frances Mary (late husband Don Scarborough) Ludington of Alpena Mi, Carl Campbell (Sue) Ludington of Owosso Mi, brother David (Fran) Ludington of East Lansing Mi, grandchildren Cutler and Annie and nephew Justin (Jackie) Ludington. No services are planned beyond a gathering of immediate family. Mark always appreciated the work of the Children’s Leukemia Foundation, relative to the early death of his brother Matthew. Memorial contributions may be made to that organization. Please feel free to share a photo or a memory with Mark’s family at www.oakgrovefh.com. The family has entrusted funeral arrangements with Oak Grove Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Ludington.
