Edward Ellsworth Shook, age 87 of LeRoy, died Saturday December 27, 2014 at his home. He was born August 18, 1927 in Detroit the son of the late Wilbur E. and Bertha M. (Russell) Shook. He attended Mackenzie High School in Detroit, Highland Park Junior College, earned a Bachelor’s degree from Wayne State University and his Master’s Degree from Michigan State University. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Edward married Jeanne A. Hutchinson on January 12, 1946 in Detroit and they have been married almost 69 years. He was employed as a sales manager for Union Carbide for several years and after moving from Kokomo, Indiana to LeRoy, he was sales manager for Nartron in Reed City until his retirement in 1996. He was a member of the Elks Club in Cadillac. Edward enjoyed remodeling, landscaping, square dancing, and working on the computer. He volunteered doing taxes for senior citizens for many years and dearly loved his wife, children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne; children, Edward (Hannah) Shook of Ward, CO, Randyl (Patrick) Lynaugh of Lansing, Thomas (Carolyn) Shook and Teryn (Tim) Johnson both of LeRoy; grandchildren, Ginger Hroba and Mimi Hrobra both of Chandler, AZ, David (Erin) Hroba of Virginia Beach, VA, Tyler Shook and Alivia Shook of LeRoy; great-grandson, Ethan Hroba of Virginia Beach, VA and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Wilma Shook; brother, Wilbur “Bill” Shook; and infant sister, Phyllis. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to Pine River Area Schools.
