Clarence M. (Skinny) Genson, 91, of Ludington, Michigan went home to be with the Lord on Saturday morning, November 16, 2013. He was born in Victory Township on August 9, 1922 to the late Warren W. and Agnes (Osborn) Genson. He graduated from Ludington High School with the class of 1941. He and Mable McClure were married on October 16, 1944. Clarence proudly served his country during World War II as part of the 276th Engineer Combat Battalion. As a returning veteran, he moved homes for Herman Outcault, built homes for Glen Bowden, and finally, worked for Dow Chemical Company for approximately 30 years as a carpenter. His carpentry skills extended into his private life as well, building three homes for his own family, and later helping son Dennis build his home. This carried on one more generation as he assisted son Dennis in making several renovations to granddaughter Sarah’s home. Clarence loved to hunt, fish, and build, make, or fix just about anything. He was an active member of the United Methodist Church of Ludington and was also a member of the Elks and the Eagles.
He will be greatly missed by those who survived him, son: Dennis (Karen) Genson of Ludington, daughter: Pam (Jim) Bell of Florida; several grandchildren: Samuel (Kirsten) Genson of Indiana, Sarah Genson of Ludington, Barb (Rich) Skultety of New Jersey, Douglas Bell of Missouri, and Amy Byerley of Grand Rapids, Michigan; great-grandchildren: Grace and Sawyer Genson and Maddie and Ben Skultety; a sister: Betty Boulton of Ludington and brothers: Harry Genson of Newaygo, Michigan and Robert (Beverly) Genson of California; many cousins, nieces, and nephews (including one little great-niece, MacKenzie, that had a special place in his heart), and many friends. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Agnes and Warren Genson, his wife, Mable, his sisters, Geneva (Evar) Carlson, Margaret Pendleton, and Agnes “Sis” (Tom) Rathsack, his brothers: Benjamin Genson and Wallace Genson, along with his daughter-in-law: Cynthia Genson.
